Home Theater Installation Tools
It is important to keep the old adage the right tool for the right job in mind when you are installing anything on your own. You may have gone through all the instructions carefully, even watched videos on how to install a home theater but unless you have the right tools handy, at the end of the day you are going to be a pretty frustrated person.
However, the tools required for installing a home theater are common tools and if you are used to doing things on your own there is a possibility that you already have these common tools.
Some other tools that you may need are:
- Power Drills -a corded drill is required for making holes where ever needed. A corded power drill is necessary for drilling holes in masonry.
- Stud detector - needed for determining location of wood and metal framing studs.
- Draw Wire - essential for routing cables or wiring through walls and electric conduit.
Once you have all these tools in place, you are then ready to open the box in which the home theater was delivered. Lay out the equipment in a way that each piece is near where you have planned to install it. Start with in-wall wiring first; TV cable to the AV receiver and speaker wires to the surround speakers.
- Level - needed when mounting TV or projection screen.
- Spade/Paddle Drill Bits - essential for making large holes for cabling.
- Masonry Drill Bit - required if the TV or projector screen is to be mounted over a fireplace.
- Phillips and assorted standard screwdrivers.
- Electric Tape - for marking studs and insulating wiring wherever needed.
